white balance

White balancing is a technique for matching colors to the hue of the light source, making white things look white. A variety of light sources, such as sunshine, incandescent bulbs and fluorescent lights can be used to illuminate subjects. This means that a camera’s auto white-balance function isn’t accurate. Sometimes the camera misreads the information coming in from outside and captures the incorrect colors as a result. That’s why you’ll need to adjust the white balance. White balance also isn’t done in the same complex way by cameras they’ll have to make do with electronic sensors to figure out what the proper color temperature is in each setting.
